I have the Lonour to lay before you copies of
correspondence in connection with an application by me
for leave of absence on the ground of length of service
and urgent private affairs.
2. As you are aware is xcellency communionted
with the veeretury of tute by cable. You informed me
by a cable,dated 23rd April 1918, that it was impossible
for you to find a substitute for me at the present tire,
hoping that short leave in south frics would, for every
reason, meet all necesuary requirements until the present:
difficulties were removed. I replied to you, by cable,
dated »pril 3th, thut mort leave would not ment
requirements (und that my life wis proceeding to Ingland
for medicel reasons, however, she has been
on
unable to sail.
3. I am aware tuat sxisting circustances may,
at the present time, muke it difficult for you to find
a substitute for me, but I trust that in the near future
it may be possible for you to rest my vishes and enable
me to proceed on leave of absence which I have earned
so that 1 may recruit my ugalth by a change of elimite
as well as attend to urgent private affairs.
